For satellite method on the other side, satellites orbiting around the earth receive and relay back data to various stations located on the earth. Data is transmitted at a speed of 1-10Mbps and ranges within a frequency of 11-14GHz.

Mobile communication systems have also been developed thanks to wireless technology. Communication through the common cell phones have evolved with time. It started with 2G network which was launched in 1991. It allowed calls, Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS), and Short Message Service (SMS). 

Next came the Edge (E) services which with the highest speed being 217 kilobits per second, it is considered slow. With such a low speed, complex applications and webpages usually malfunction, timeout or load very slowly. In 2001, japan launched the first commercial use of 3G network. Unlike its predecessors, it operated on UTMS (Universal Mobile Telecommunication Service) standards. It had a maximum speed of 384 kb/s and thus its connectivity was reliable enough. Later on came the 4G connection. 

LTE (Long Term Evolution) standards form the foundation which the 4G network operates. This technology is fast and can hit a speed of up to 1Gigabit/second and thus its reliability and popularity. Plans are currently underway to develop and commercialize 5G network.
